Tackle IPOB, MASSOB - Islamic leaders tell FG

- Some Muslim scholars call on the federal government to brace up and tackle security challenges in parts of the country - The pioneer Grand Khadi, Kwara state Sha’aria Court of Appeal Justice Abdulkadir Orire, asks the government to bring back the remaining Chibok girls and others from captivity - FG uncovers more foreign sources linked to IPOB funding Some Islamic leaders have urged the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to take a strong stand against agitations by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra before they become uncontrollable.
The clerics gave the charge in the Kwara state capital at the commemoration of this year new Islamic calendar (Hijra). In a report published in The Nation newspaper dated Sunday, September 24, they called on the federal government to brace up and tackle other security challenges in parts of the country.
Pioneer grand khadi, Kwara state sha’aria court of appeal Justice Abdulkadir Orire (rtd) said: "The issues of IPOB and MASSOB in the South East must be seriously attended to before they degenerated to undesirable and uncontrollable levels. “Insecurity is the greatest impediment to industrialisation and growth of other investments which have contributed greatly to unemployment of our youths.
“To ameliorate the situation, there is the need to swiftly confront the Boko Haram insurgents headlong, bring back the remaining Chibok girls and others from captivity. Likewise, the Niger Delta militants and kidnappers should not treated with kid gloves. “The military and para-military forces should be fortified and motivated to enhance adequate security of the lives and property of all Nigerians and others resident in Nigeria.” On his part, the former grand khadi who is also the Sarkin Malamai of Ilorin complained about the incidents of ritual killings in many parts of the country. Malamai said such conduct was highly ungodly, un-Islamic, barbaric and sinful. Another Muslim cleric, Justice Muhammad Abdulkadir, decried the growing cases of cultism and other anti-social behaviours in Ilorin and its environs. Abdulkadir called on the government to set necessary machinery in motion for the protection of lives through regular surveillance of the community.
Meanwhile, the senior special assistant to the president on diaspora affairs, Abike Dabiri, has disclosed that the federal government has identified more foreign sources where the Indigenous People Biafra (IPOB) gets funding. Abike Dabiri made the disclosure to the Nigerian Tribune at sideline of the ongoing 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. The presidential aide said the new foreign sources of funds for the pro-Biafra group were more than those earlier traced by the Nigerian government to France and the United Kingdom. She said since IPOB had been declared a terrorist organisation by the government, it was now easier for the Nigerian authorities to trace the group’s sources of funds and block them.
